FAR 91.167 IFR Fuel Requirements
For IFR flights, you must have enough fuel to:
- Complete the flight to first airport of intended landing
- Fly from that airport to the alternate airport (if required)
- Fly after that for 45 minutes at normal cruising speed
Alternate Requirements (1-2-3 Rule)
No alternate required if, for 1 hour before to 1 hour after ETA:
- Ceiling at least 2,000 ft above field elevation
- Visibility at least 3 statute miles
