Point of No Return:

PNR = (Endurance x GS_out x GS_in) / (GS_out + GS_in)

Time to PNR:

Time = PNR / GS_out

PNR vs ETP

  • PNR: Farthest point to return to departure
  • ETP: Equal time point to departure or destination
  • PNR is always closer to departure than ETP
  • With headwind outbound, PNR moves closer to departure
